How do we plant corals?

Corals are planted onto Reef Stars. Coralku's team will collect and prepare the corals and with your help, we will plant the corals onto the Reef Star. This can be done by divers or non-divers. We can bring the Reef Stars to ankle-deep water so that non-swimmers can also plant corals.

What does a coral restoration CSR programme involve?

Our programmes combine hands-on coral restoration with marine conservation education. Depending on your group and objectives, your team can help deploy Reef Stars, plant corals, do team building activities on the beach, help us clean the reef, and learn about the challenges facing coral reefs.

Where does the restoration take place?

Coralku is based on Lang Tengah Island, Terengganu, Malaysia, where all CSR activities take place. Lang Tengah is a small, beautiful, and quite island nestled in-between the Perhentians and Redang Island.

Can our company sponsor a specific number of corals or Reef Stars?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Companies can support individual coral planting activities, Reef Stars, or larger restoration programmes. For larger and multi-year partnerships, we can also develop a dedicated restoration area.

What happens to the corals after our CSR activity?

Accepted Answer

Restoration doesn't end when your team leaves the water. Coralku monitors restored areas and tracks coral growth and survival over time. Depending on the project, longer-term monitoring and follow-up activities can also be incorporated into your partnership.

When is the best time for a CSR?

We recommend CSR activities to be carried our between March and November, with the best months being in April, May, September and early October.
