Restoring Reefs, One Coral at a Time

MTT Shipping Sdn. Bhd. recently partnered with Coralku to carry out a two-day coral reef conservation program on Pulau Lang Tengah. Held on 25–26 April 2025, the initiative combined education with hands-on action, engaging 16 enthusiastic participants in marine preservation. 

The event began with a Coral Awareness Talk on 25 April, aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of Malaysia’s coral reef ecosystems, the threats they face such as climate change and coastal development and the urgent need for proactive conservation. The session equipped the participants with vital knowledge and a renewed sense of purpose. 

The highlight of the program took place on 26 April, as participants took the plunge for coral conservation. Working alongside Coralku’s team, they successfully planted 331 coral fragments onto 20 coral frames, contributing to reef rehabilitation efforts at the designated restoration site. These planted corals will help stabilize reef structure and provide vital habitat for marine life. 

Coral planting initiatives like this are crucial to reversing reef degradation. Through partnerships between the private sector and coral conservation groups, we can amplify impact and foster long-term stewardship of Malaysia’s marine treasures.
