Tenaga Nasional Berhad’s Coral Garden of Hope

TNB & Coralku start long-term coral restoration partnership

In a powerful commitment to coral conservation, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) joined forces with Coralku for a coral planting initiative on Pulau Lang Tengah, Terengganu. The event brought together 18 dedicated participants to learn about reef ecosystems and take direct action to support coral restoration in Malaysia.

The program kicked off on May 3rd with a compelling Coral Awareness and Research Talk, where Coralku shared insights into Malaysia’s fragile coral reefs, the importance of reef biodiversity, and the latest findings from Coralku’s ongoing restoration research. The session empowered participants with the knowledge needed to understand both the challenges and solutions in reef conservation.

On May 4th, the team moved from learning to action. Over two SCUBA diving sessions, the TNB group successfully planted 476 coral fragments onto 25 coral frames. These efforts are part of a long-term restoration strategy aimed at rebuilding reef structures and enhancing marine biodiversity in Pulau Lang Tengah’s recovering ecosystems.

Coral reefs support nearly 30% of marine life and protect coastlines from erosion. Yet, rising sea temperatures and pollution are causing mass die-offs. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities like this not only help rebuild these vital ecosystems but also raise awareness among future ocean stewards.

Want to support coral reef restoration in Malaysia? Partner with Coralku for your next CSR initiative or volunteer program and make a measurable impact on ocean conservation.

Every coral counts. Join us in rebuilding Malaysia’s reefs.
